1⃣ SEC Chair gives updates on Project Crypto at Philadelphia Fed's Annual Fintech Conference
SEC Chair Paul Atkins: “We will not let fear of the future trap us in the past,” and “Congress crafted securities laws to address specific problems… not as a universal charter to regulate every novel form of value, digital or otherwise.”
2⃣ J.P. Morgan expands deposit token to Base
J.P. Morgan is rolling out its deposit token to institutional clients on Base, the public blockchain associated with Coinbase. The token represents USD deposits held at J.P. Morgan and marks a major bank's expansion to a public blockchain.
3⃣ Acting CFTC Chair pushes to bring spot crypto trading to regulated US exchanges
CFTC Acting Chair Caroline Pham confirmed the agency is in direct talks with regulated exchanges like CME and CBOE to launch spot crypto trading, including leveraged offerings, as soon as next month.
4⃣ Coinbase to bring back digital token offerings
Coinbase is launching a new token sale platform with built-in protections to avoid pitfalls associated with 2017's ICO craze. Token allocations will be automated and restricted to verified users, using USDC as the sole payment method.
